browserumguide
about us

who we are, and how we rank

browserumguide.com started in 2024 with one question: which of these brow serums is actually worth the money? We read every ingredient list ourselves, weigh what reviewers and beauty editors say, and have a dermatologist read what we write.

Ewa Lindqvist, founder and editor

Ewa spent nine years as a beauty buyer for a department-store chain, reading ingredient lists and sitting through brand presentations, before deciding the claims deserved testing rather than shelf space. She reads the full ingredient list of every serum in our ranking, tracks US retail prices and review counts monthly, and writes every review. Her own over-plucked brows are the reason the site exists.

Dr. Hanna Berg, MD, medical reviewer

Dr. Berg is a board-certified dermatologist in private practice with a special interest in hair and nail disorders. She reviews every article that touches on health, safety, ingredients or side effects before it is published, and again whenever it is updated. Articles she has reviewed carry her name in the byline. She does not test products and is not paid by any brand.

How we rank brow serums

  1. We shortlist serums with real standing in the US market: distribution at Sephora, Ulta and Amazon, verified review volume, and placements in independent rankings from Glamour, Vogue, Prevention and NBC Select.
  2. We read the full ingredient list of each, flag prostaglandin analogues by name, and note whether the formula is growth-led or conditioning-led.
  3. We calculate cost per month from the stated supply and typical US retail price, and re-check it monthly.
  4. We read verified reviews for recurring reports of redness, skin darkening or irritation.
  5. Scores weigh formula (40%), reputation and reviews (30%), cost per month (20%) and ease of use (10%).
  6. Brands cannot pay for a place or a score, and we do not accept samples.

Editorial policy

  • Independence. Brands cannot buy a place in a ranking, a mention in an article, or a change to a score. We do not accept free products, sponsored posts or brand travel. QUALASH, the maker of QUABROW, is our top pick on merit; its placement follows the same scoring as every other serum.
  • Affiliate links. Some links to retailers are affiliate links; if you buy through one we may earn a small commission at no cost to you. Links are chosen after the ranking is decided and never influence it. Every article with affiliate links says so at the top.
  • Medical review. Anything about safety, ingredients, side effects or health conditions is reviewed by Dr. Berg before publication. Our content is general information, not medical advice, and does not replace a consultation.
  • Updates and corrections. Every article carries a dated update line. We re-check prices and formulations monthly. If we get something wrong, we correct it in the article and note the correction at the bottom.
  • Reader reviews. Quotes from readers are used with permission, with first name, age and city only. We do not publish reviews we cannot trace to a real person.
